Loved this, my son has had a great time doing this. He’s 6 and still needs some supervisor/help with this. Wood could use some paint though! It’s a little splintery, but it does come with a file for that.

Got these as a gift for my 8yr old son. He LOVED them! Out then together quickly and easily on his own. He felt so cool and so smart. The wood pieces aren’t very “durable” as they can easily crack or slip out of their slots. But for the most part, these are great and my son enjoys playing with them and displaying them.

I got this to do with my 5 year old, but my 9 year old is doing them with my 5 year old instead. Love them, but be careful some parts can break easy.

These are very nice kits and perfect for an 8 year old. The only drawback was that the bags are not labeled as to what they are. It took a while to match up the directions with the correct kit. Labeling the bags would be a big plus.

My 10-Year-Old Grandson enjoyed these after just a little help putting first one together, he was able to put all the rest together by himself. Made a great gift.

I highly recommend this STEM kit. I got it for my 5-year-old twin boys. Of course, I had to do most of the assembling myself but the kids participated. They looked at the instructions, found the right parts and prepared them. The screws are tiny, so I had to insert the screws and start screwing them, and the boys finished the screwing. But their thrills from discovering all the mechanics… Oh, my. It’s worth a lot. So far, we have assembled three models out of five, and they all work (go forward). The car and the aircraft are pushed forward by the air flow created by the propeller that is rotated by the motor. The off-road vehicle is pushed forward by a gear system. It’s so cool to study with kids how these vehicles work. VERY IMPORTANT. For the air craft particularly, use new ALKALINE batteries. They are more powerful than rechargeable ones, which makes a difference. At first, we used a rechargeable battery for the aircraft, and it didn’t go. The propeller was spinning but the aircraft didn’t go forward. However, when we inserted alkaline batteries, the propeller stated to spin much faster, which created the required air flow to push the aircraft forward. I hope my review helped. Enjoy a wonderful STEM time with your kids that this kit provides. UPDATE. We have assembled all the vehicles now. They all work great! They zoom so fast. Each one has its own mechanics. I will be definitely looking for other STEM kits like this one.

Was fun building it for my kid and when it works, it works okay.
Somethings you should expect
the gears are plastic, so any resistance will cause them to wear fast.
The wires are extremely thin, you should solder them on. If you don’t you may find the kits may not work well or at all due to not enough power.
The wood needs to be handled without too much pressure or it will break.
Don’t make things too tight or it will cause premature wear or cause the car not to move.

We assembled 3 of the 5 toys.
Each toy is bagged separately and the instruction booklets were loose in the box. The bags were not labeled, so we had to look at the pictures in the booklets and match it up with the parts in the bag.
It’s all “assemble by picture”.
Sometimes it could get frustrating. EX – putting a gear on the left side instead of the right caused the car to go in reverse. And of course it was step 2 of a 15 step process! So we had to take it all apart and redo it.
Wood panels are fragile. If the kid gets too aggressive with tightening the (tiny) screws, the wood can split. Extra screws are provided in each packet.
The 2 screwdrivers provided are magnetic, which makes it more convenient.
Overall, it was still fun. I had a 4, 8 and 9 yr old each put together their own car. The older kids were able to do 90% of it themselves.
*The airplane does not ‘drive”, only the propeller spins. (or we assembled it wrong, which is also possible)
The jeep is surprisingly faster than the race car
