I expect the finish product to work well but the instruction manual is a failure they should consult Revell for a layout plan. I used youtube to walk me through the assembly very helpful.

great

My first Acadamy model. Won’t be my last. Very nicely detailed model. Very challenging build. One down side, could use better-detailed instructions, very vague…

Academy AC12285 – 1/48 TBM-3 USS Bunker Hill, Luftfahrt
Academy Qualität echt sehr gut, besser als revell.

The model itself is very nice when finished. The plans booklet was the worst I’ve seen. Diagrams showing
how to put the parts together were terrible. Assembly was trial and error to figure how parts went together.

Nice. This is the same spruce & model as Accurate Miniatures, so you know the detail is good. I will recommend this product.

I’ve built two of these, when they we were made by Accurate Miniatures. Very tricky to get the turret installed and the torpedo doors on, but we’ll worth the challenge!

I believe this is a re-boxing from the Accurate Miniatures, at least from what I’ve heard. You never know what you are going to get with these kits that you have no experience with. I took a chance and bought because of the great price on Amazon, it was cheaper than anything even on Ebay.
Anyway, about the kit. I was very surprised when I opened the box. The plastic has perfect engraved lines on all the pieces and it looks very accurate to the naked eye. This kit is on my list to be built but I couldn’t help myself and took the larger parts off the tree for test fitting. Everything fit perfect and all the panel lines lined up when taped together. I have a lot of model building experience and I can tell you that this is a great kit. I also test fit the clear parts and they fit great even better than a lot of high end kits. It’s so nice that it has moved up on my list of future builds. Because of it’s engineering and fit, I don’t think you will need a lot of experience to make this into a nice model.

This is the hardest model I’ve done. I like the challenge though. At this point I’m painting the tri color fuselage Masking off to the right sections. Directions could stand to be better, like where the Bombay doors should go. But over all this should be the most impressive model I’ve done to date.

Looks to be a nice kit but not built yet

The detail and quality of the parts are very good but the instructions are extremely vague and blurry, making it hard to put together. Even experienced model builders would have a hard time with this kit. Additionally, the control panel lacks doesn’t come with any decals, the turret is hard to install, and some parts don’t fit well. In the instructions part no. 20 isn’t even provided with an indicator of where it’s supposed to go. Love the academy brand but this is just one of those kits that needs a rework.
