Great little kit. I remember the old Airfix Spitfire kit fondly, and built a number of them in my youth, but this kit is updated and far more detailed. A nice build, easy, with enough parts and detail for the more discerning modeler and yet simple enough for me to spend a fun time with my 6 year old showing him the joy of building a cool model of a historic airplane. Buy it, you won’t be disappointed.

  4. Chris

My most favourite model kit. Simply love the simplicity but quality of this kit.

    Represents the iconic Spitfire perfectly

  5. Pab272

This plane came with no paint no glue so whats the point of it

  6. V. Greenleaf

The Airfix Model is great have built it a few times. This seller shipped it in an envelope and the box was crushed model was ok but I would not risk it again.

  7. Roberto Maldonado

This small kit is supplied without paints or adhesive making it way overpriced and poor value for money at £9.95 Parts all need quite a bit of fettling prior to assembly. Nice enough when completed though you’d be best advised to find something else. I guess it should be priced around £5-7 maybe. To complete it as the provided instructions suggest you will need a minimum of 7 paints and maximum of 10. plus paint brushes, some plastic cement and adhesive tape.

  8. Scott

The cheap price makes this a great kit for learning on or just taking a break from more challenging kits. The only faults I found are that the fuselage locating pins don’t fit in the holes (have to sand off), and there’s a little gap where the windshield is.

  9. Chris

My son is 11 and he needed some help assembling it, but really enjoyed the process and painting it. I also got him to research the correct paint patterns, so he found had to do some research work on spitfires on the internet so educational too! It looks fantastic once finished.

  10. Rich

Good looking Airfix Spitfire isn’t it! Sorta looks like a SMER Hawk though.

  11. Gary Blechacz

Read the small print on the back of the box first if you want the correct colour scheme for this registration of aircraft.
The box clearly displays that one wing is black and the other white. Little did I notice the small print first that says that this colour scheme is incorrect. I only notice this as I was applying the decals. Okay not biggy I guess. But a shame after so much work has been put in.

The kit goes together pretty easily but the decals are just too fiddly. On the side of the fuselage. The GR is separate from the RAF circle and the U is separate again.
The U was a pain trying to get right. It was incredibly fragile. As was the tiny 2mm red squares that cover the guns. I gave up on those in the end.

I’ve built the Spitfire before from Airfix and in the 1:72 Scale. That one came with paints, glue and a brush. That was a more enjoyable experience. The large lettering much easier to apply.

I’ve ordered ( and it’s just arrived actually) another one of these kits. Just to put in to practice everything that went wrong on this build

A lot of detail on this model. I’ve purchased it a couple of times. A good price. A nice build if you have patience and a good tweezers. Can be built in multiple color schemes.
