Patience, perseverance, creativity, experience, skills and the right tools. Apply these in generous amounts and you will have hours and hours of enjoyment. This inexpensive little kit looks deceptive but is an enjoyable challenge to a model builder with some experience. It is a good introduction to plank on frame wooden model ship building. With a lot of care and a sharp Xacto blade you can extract the parts from the laser cut sheets. They are fragile but there is enough spare room on the sheets to make replacements. I would suggest getting 2 kits since the price is so reasonable. Instructions are minimal with drawings for the deck furniture. Fortunately there are lots of good resources on the internet to learn how to plank the hull, how to do the masts, sails and rigging. I enjoyed this project several hours a day for 6 months from start to finish and I look forward to my next ship.

This ship model is not for beginners.
The parts themselves were laser cut on sheets of thin wood. The parts are fragile but nicely detailed. Main problems:
-there are hardly written instrucrions.
– the picture instructions are adequate for assembling the hull and components of the deck. But fail miserably to address the assembly of the masts and rigging. I can fix these problems because I have sailed on Lake Michigan and inland lakes for the last 52 years. So I know my sailing ships.

Overall, I am very happy with how it turned out! I want to straighten a few things out for anyone considering this kit. Yes, it’s a “cheap Chinese knock off” type thing. The instructions are just pictures, and kind of look like a copy of a copy of a copy. But, this is only $15ish. Wood model boat kits easily run for $100+. For the money this is easily a 5 star boat. It does take a lot of patience. It only comes with the pieces to build the boat as pictured in the description. No paint, no tools, no glue. I included a lot of pictures to hopefully set the proper expectations of what this kit is and what it can become. If you’re used to model building and enjoy the act of building something, and aren’t just looking for a quick and easy/finished product, then I highly recommend this kit. With this kit I was able to build something that was worth my time, a lot of fun to work on, and that I’m proud to display.

Kit arrived quickly. Everything was as I expected after reading other reviews. I have had some experience building wooden ship models, so it was not a complete puzzle to me. However, some extra information or instructions would have been helpful. How tall are the masts?, What is the diameter of the various spars?, Etc. A line drawing of the rigging would be nice too. But, for less than $20.00, it’s a great little kit.

Makes a nice model, though there were some issues.
I had to order a replacement because the first arrived in a flexible mailer. Bear in mind you may need another attempt to relieve the product intact.
The parts are very fragile
That being said, this is a fun little kit that makes a decent model when made with care.

The kit was clearly easy to read, the wood etc was good quality. There are some parts of the final assembly that could be better displayed. Again it’s not for the beginners. As in most boat models a lot of it is up to the discrestion of the builder.
