I enjoyed building this model. The “bricks” are a sort of soft chalk like substance that is easy to work with, but can be messy when cutting and sanding. It comes with 2 small bottles of glue, which was far from adequate (at least for me), I think I used more than twice as much (I used Titebond Transclucent Wood glue from Amazon to make up the difference).
For me, the biggest downside were the instructions. There is very little text (I found only 2 words in English). It relies mostly of pictures, which would be fine except the photos are small and sometimes confusing. I resorted to using a magnifying glass trying to glean more detail, but the photographic resolution was not that great). Fortunately there is a huge number of photos available on-line and I relied on these to fill in the blanks.
I attached a photo of my project, but note that I added a “fanciful” restoration of the living quarters, as the model depicts the castle in it’s current state (where the living quarters are mostly missing). I also added a custom base (“American Easel 12 Inch by 24 Inch by 1 5/8 Inch Deep Cradled Painting Panel” from Amazon) and several 10 mm painted figures to add scale.
PS: I purchased a small cottage from the same supplier to make sure I had enough material for the living quarters roof. There were plenty of regular bricks for the added wall area.
