Obviously a return but it was complete and the discount was fair.

While this kit is very well detailed and has some great features as far as the elevator positions and hanger detail. I have to admit, (unless you are able and don’t mind the work), this kit has significant errors from the actual ship. From bow to stern, but especially at the stern. You will spend a lot of time researching and fixing the errors, but they are fixable. Except for the island. The island must be replaced in its entirety. The flight deck wood detail is wrong and if an airplane ever had to taxi over the lowered crash barriers, they would fall in to their wings. If you want a more accurate model, get the Fujimi.

Overall pretty good but could use some more planes

Kaga… Carrier Division 1 well that pretty much covers her history. No seriously Kaga saw the Pearl harbor raid and Indian Ocean actions before being blasted to a blazing hulk at the hands of US dive bombers at the Battle of Midway.
As far as the Hasegawa kit of Kaga goes it is an old one but I suspect that seeing as how this ship was the pride of the Japanese Navy I think that a little extra was put into it. It is a fairly well detailed kat and should build into a good looking Kaga from the box. If you want, there are heaps of goodies to pour on it too.
My only gripe is a rather puny air group in the box. Hasegawa could have put an extra sprue of aircraft in a fleet carrier kit!

I think I bought it for a pretty good deal after I look all around for her, the kit itself was much less detail than her sister Akagi(also made by Hasegawa) cause it was the build in 09, and Akagi was build 2015(the model, not the ship). Over all is ok, and just like everyone else was saying that the runway needs to be painted instead of applying decals. I hated that they put tape on the box when they shipped to me( I want the cover box to be a part of the collection as well). But again, Over all I’m looking forward to build it.

Just realize after purchase this particular model kit do NOT come with any flight deck runway decals and the instruction paper stated that you have to paint the runway yourself ! OMG! And reading up online, found that the same Fujimi 1/700 model Kaga comes with complete runway decals… argh… too late… have to painstakingly and cautiously paint the runway myself…
I have also purchased the Hasegawa 1/700 Akagi in the same order but the Akagi model comes with beautiful complete runway decals !
Even in the same order, Aoshima 1/700 Soryu and Hiryu has complete decals set.

I’ve been building naval model for 8-10 years now and I think this waterline set is one of the best 1/700 kit.
the parts fit well but require some filling. Detail is very clear even the instruction is in Japanese. The type of plastic takes paint well, and the parts are detail compare for most 1/700. Shipping was very fast consider over sea.
They said 4 weeks, but I got it in 2. Not very often you see a thank you note and a well packaged shipment from an Amazon purchase but they have it all. It’s nice that people appreciate your business.
I give it a 5 stars because I had a good experience.
