Great value for money but with one vital metal bolt missing my son couldn’t complete it so we wasted our money.

Bigger than I thought it would be. It looks fantastic on the shelf. Overall it’s very fun to build. First time Meccano owner here, and I’ll definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to build a bike. Enjoy.

Well made, nicely laid out instructions but some of the images are hard to follow since in many situations you really need to count the number of holes to be sure that the bots go in the correct location — often you can’t see the holes on the instruction booklet.

I like working with this erector set. Makes you think and add to dexterity. Unfortunately I have to return the product was missing 2 parts, and it is half-way completed. Ordered another one as a replacement.
Update: Received a new box of the Meccano Ducati and this is complete. I am very satisfied.

awesome piece. a bit of a pain to build (you’ll have to figure things out sometimes, as these are a lot of pieces mixed in a bag) but i guess that’s part of the fun. the complete piece looks great in my opinion.

You need to know the personality of the kid who will be building this to some degree–persistence and patience are required. Would not recommend for the 8&under set in general. My son and I have started on this, he loves it so far. Will take some hours of work, but since he puts together $200 lego sets in one afternoon (thanks Santa for that 3 spectacular hours of fun last year and then it was over), I was hoping for some time investment. My son is 9 and very good at spatial/mechanical/building activities (could do 10-12 year old lego sets alone at age 5). My daughter, who has her own skills but is not gifted in this way, would HATE this set. So unless you have a kid who can look carefully at instructions and mimic that in real life, this would be very frustrating. They will also at least once realize they did something wrong and have to backtrack. Again, my daughter would be in tears. But A+ for the kid with more resilience and persistence. He or she will need your help–many steps just require 2 sets of hands, no matter how you try it. Fun project for the STEM-lover. We will probably buy some more after this.

I bought this as xmas present so I will have to wait till next week to see if my grandson likes it or not. I thought it would be a good non ipad experience. Soooo ask me again next week.

  8. MK

A little too complicated for a 9 year old to complete alone – took us a while to complete it, but very rewarding with the time spent figuring it out together.

I Bought this for a Christmas present for my Grandson as im always buying Lego. He is 10 and i thought this looked a really good challenging set for him to build so giving him hours of fun . I cant wait to see it when he has finished building it up as it looks brilliant.

Great item although it was missing a few pieces, fortunately my son found some alternatives. I don’t think it’s suitable for children without the help of an adult.

  11. Jose Frias

    Nice product.

One of there better sets with a lot of metal parts unfortunately a lot of the current range of products have too much plastic for me and it is very hit and miss as to which set are more plastic then metal

  13. Paul

Says age 10+ On box. Most boys would struggle without adult help. The instruction pictures really need to be higher definition , but nonetheless great fun to build.
