    Nice product

For any one who likes this hobby and loves WW2 airplanes like I do this is great for you.

Haven’t totally finished (see photo) but getting close, finishing the exterior paint before I add the canopy and landing gear. The build has been fairly straight-forward, minor adjustments needed but nothing major. Model was well packaged and all parts were included, instruction clear (however I would suggest that the landing gear and canopy be added after the exterior painting / decals are finished; contrary to the instructions). This model is more than adequate as a basis for a great build; if you put in enough time / effort.

This 1/32 Mustang kit is basically a good kit, an easy kit for the most part but…
And this is a BIG but, the landing gear parts are cheap, flimsy, and do not attach securely to the undersides of the wings. I tried several times to attach them, and no matter how long I allowed them to glue securely to the wing bottoms, they kept folding up under the pressure of the model that they were supposed to be holding up. I finally removed them, and attached the landing gear doors in the closed position. They fit just OK for that.
The other glaring issue is that of the clear canopy parts. They do not line up to each other as if they were molded improperly. This is maddening because I have the model completely finished except for gluing on the canopy parts, and now they do not fit right. I hate to display this model with such poor fitting clear parts but looks like I have no choice but to do so.
I have built several of Monogram/Revell airplane kits including some of the other 1/32 scale ones, and never had this issue with canopy parts. I am glad I did not pay too much for this kit as I feel like throwing it against a wall right now!
As for the flimsy gear parts, I have built one other 1/32 kit, the P-38 Lightning that had the same issue. The landing gear parts do not stay secure, and in the right positions no matter how many times I cemented them in place!

I enjoyed working this model up to the point where it was time to put the canopy pieces on. Part 51 the windscreen, in my kit at least, had a very poor fit. Much carving and trimming made marginal improvements. This is especially frustrating because this part ties into the left canopy window which is hinged and designed to allow opening and closing. So the fit is rather critical. I have spent more time fiddling with the canopy pieces than the rest of the model combined. I was tempted to give it only three stars but thought it might not be fair on the basis of only one part, which could have been unique to my kit. The rest of the model is fine, although be careful after installing the rear wheel strut. It is very frail relative to the size of the model.

Easy but challenging to assemble. Instructions easy to follow

Everything looks great as far as Revell is concerned, but this will be my son’s first model so I thought I was ordering him a level 2 according to the picture. When I received it I was surprised to see it was a level 4.
