  1. JW, Desert Fox!

Just received the kit! Upon inspection, it was just as advertised. Cannot wait to build this beautiful kit and add it to my collection.

  2. Glenn Taylor

Excellent detail!!! Wish I could find an EC-47, like the ones he flew in in Vietnam.

Despite considerable hype when it was released, this is a pretty awful model. The parts look great, and at first glance you get a lot more dazzle than with the classic Monogram 1/48 kit from 1978. Look closely, however, and there are serious problems, especially with overall shape. With a good set of blueprints (I use the old Maircraft plans), it becomes obvious that almost nothing lines up properly. Even the cargo door is misshapen and not aligned properly. It’s also true that the recessed panel lines and rivets do a poor job of capturing the bumpy, overlapped skin that is part of the character of the DC-3/C-47, but with all of the shape problems the texture seems pretty irrelevant. I will probably scrounge my kit for parts to spruce up the Monogram kit, perhaps from the wheel wells and cockpit, but that’s a pretty expensive handful of spares.
