Nice quality with fairly fine detail for this scale. And it’s the only available model I’m aware of that accurately represents an American fast battleship in early-war guise. That is, it has the original limited AA armament, just 4 of the ineffectual 1.1″ quad antiaircraft mounts, rather than the much larger quad 40 mm Bofors mounts crammed into every available space by 1944, as found on all other models. So it accurately represents the U.S.S. Washington at the time of her sinking of the IJN Kirishima.

Nice model. But unfortunately, my skills and old stiff hands couldn’t handle the tiny parts and give it justice. 1/700 scale is just too small for me to work with.
Fitting was pretty good for what I did accomplish. Had the right tools, just old hands.
Boxed it back up halfway done. Maybe try to finish it one of these days. Disappointed in myself.

As a old veteran of revel battleship models, I thought I could handle this particular kit. Boy was I ever wrong. First, before anyone tries to compare the two, keep in mind that this model is of a smaller scale than what many of us are used to. And most of the features that cheaper models just include as part of the mold are separate pieces here. This makes for an excruciating assembly process for those of us who haven’t done anything this small before. I personally gave up while trying to install each individual .50 caliber gun, which are almost microscopic to my untrained eye.
The detail of this kit is impressive, and I’m sure a more experienced modeler could do it justice, but that modeler aint me. If you’re new to this hobby, or are out of practice, I would not recommend this kit. The aggravation isn’t worth it.
