Joel L. Reinleib –
Liked this one, kept my occupied for a couple of nights
Bryan –
Very nice. This is my second one. Good quality and fun to build.
The Machine –
This kit is crisp and detailed. There are options to build a WW2 USN (VF-17) and USMC (VMF-213 or VMF(N)-532) Corsair F4U-1. The camouflage scheme for the former is Sea Blue (FS 34052) over Immediate Blue (FS 35164) and Insignia White (FS 38375) and the latter is M-485 Non-Specular Blue-Gray (FS 35089) over M-495 Non-Specular Light Gull Gray (FS 36440).
I would recommend this kit for serious modelers because of the price and detailed parts (cockpit interior/instrument panel/engine). If this is a gift for a young adult who wants to slap some glue and paint together I would recommend Revell/Monogram’s Corsair.

All thumbs up. My childhood favorite and Tamiya didn’t disappoint!

The product is A-1. Prompt delivery, also.
Michael –
Had difficulty getting the wings to fit accurately. Disapointing for a Tamiya model.
Michael –
Tamiya products, and models are
always top notch, and worth the price when ordering anything from
This company.
Hotshot –
Really good kit. Well engineered and builds well

This model is a must have! It’s a real beaut. Plastic is crisp with no flash, panel lines spot on, option of folded wing’s, this kit has got it all. Very highly recommended.
Robert Bausch –
Excellent service and the model itself is better then expected I wish I had ordered 2 after looking inside the box. If you want to super detailed model the only thing one might want to add is aftermarket seatbelts(decals are provided in kit) and the main wheels. Out of the box it has 4 decal choices ,straight/folded wings ,also the nightfighter version is included. The detail is great crisp clean engraved panel lies zero flash and only a few sinkmarks which are very easy to remove. Highly recommend to all levels of modelers!

First build of a Tamiya model and was not disappointed with the quality. 1/48 was a little small, will build 1/32 next. The price goes up, but the detail triples. I had a little trouble with the wings. It needed better design. I had to use more glue than I wanted. You can only build wings folded or fixed. It would of been nice to have them moveable.
All in all fit and fair of each piece was above other brands I’ve built.

The Corsair kit arrived (a day early I believe) in good shape as far as I can tell. Have opened it, but left sprues in their plastic bags. In a quick look, seems like everything is there. Now all I have to do is figure out how and where I can build it in our new, much smaller apartment (after living in houses for years).
I would love to have the 1/32 Tamiya F4U-1 Bird Cage Corsair, but doubt I’d find room to display it. It would remain unbuilt, in the box. That’s why I got this one, in 1/48. This was the definitive Corsair model kit when it came out, and still is, in this scale. The ability to build the F4U-2 night fighter is a bonus. Well done, Tamiya.
