Overall the kit is complete, instructions are easy to follow and once completed the look of a real tank is amazing and this is mostly why I ranked it high in my opinion. The rest of this review is mostly like a guide and a bit of a summary of my experience with this kit. This is my first model in several decades and to my point is that it might look intimidating at first but it is totally doable. Uploaded several images showing the final result with weathering stage 1; I consulted youtube to find out how to place the stickers and do some painting. I believe piece B18 on the diagram is mislabeled. The piece is actually used in B16 on the diagram. It also came with two canons; one fits and the other is a bit bigger and will not fit. I did not deduct any stars for these discrepancies. These issues can be easily be overcome and also feel that for the most part the instructions were accurate. I should also warn against stretching the rubber tracks or they will easily snap; which it did on my case and believe me repairing these tracks are a pain especially if you want to have the right tension. Ironically, the instructions come with a single cautionary warning when putting together an accessory on top of the tank’s turret. Honestly, that was no issue to me at all; the tracks were and I believe I am not alone on this one. The glue needed for joining the track together has to be OC or similar, otherwise the regular model kit glue will not work at all.

Pretty good kit once it’s done, but requires a lot of sanding and chopping to get pieces to fit right. Other then that it’s a good model overall.

  3. Trinity

This is an extremely good Abrams model kit. The parts are well molded and fit perfectly. I have never had a bad Academy model I’m going to get the Bradley fighting vehicle next.

  4. Mimi

    Some parts not well fitting

  5. JAMES JOHNSON

This is one of the best kits I have ever built. Model fits together very well. Too bad more models don’t have the same quality control. I ended up painting mine NATO camouflage.

Really fun build took 2 to 3 days awesome model not really any issues with fit directions could be a little clearer but still an awesome model

    Great tank

This was a great Academy kit with no flash and excellent fit with all the components. I’m often not satisfied with the decals that Academy supplies but this was definitely an exception. These decals were not too thick and looked really fine on the finished model. I deviated from the correct desert camouflage and went with something a bit more European and I did a little kit bashing on the turret. Anyway, nice kit and definitely worth the money.
