Description

  • Mould Tools made in 1963, pack illustration by Roy Cross, 1964. Enjoy the nostalgia with Airfix Vintage Classics.
  • Since Airfix came onto the market in the early 1950s, it has excited and entertained generations of young boys and girls who have then carried on with the passion for the brand throughout their lives.
  • These “new” Vintage Classics will contain kits from the pre-Hornby era; i.e. those not designed in CAD, and will carry where possible a older classic illustration.
  • We know many of these models are a little more challenging for today’s modelers, but that’s part of this brilliant hobby’s fun.
  • Painting required: yes, paints need to be purchased separately. Humbrol Paints needed are listed on the outside of the box.

  1. Barry

Good toy. With big gun.shoot kill Nazi.haha

  2. Colin Purcell

Good model only complaint that one wheel off the gun carriage was missing.

  3. datty

I remember doing this kit in the 70’s. Airfix have released a few vintage kits like this one, reboxed with more up to date instructions. The gun construction is a bit fiddly but overall not too taxing and makes a great little trio once complete.

  4. Pink dragon

I have never seen such poor quality in my 60 years of model making. There is excessive material on the components, some of which are deformed, the major problem is that you cannot use normal “plastic” adhesives or even superglue. All Airfix could suggest was to use Evostik which is a totally unacceptable solution.

  5. Mr. E. N. Griffiths

I made up this kit in the 1970s last. I have bought a number of duplicates recently, but haven’t made up any more models of this kit. It reminded me of the Dinky Toy 25 pounder set when I was a child, and enjoyed playing with that. I liked making the Airfix model in the 1970s, and still have it in my possession despite my home being renovated some years ago. It has more figures than the Dinky equivalent. That only had the driver figure. And the circular “platform” beneath the 25 pounder gun is included in the Airfix kit. The Airfix kit is 1/76 scale, whilst the Dinky was about 1/50 scale, I think. I imagine the Airfix kit is fine for war gaming, not taking up so much space. The Vintage Classics kit brings back memories. Yes, enjoy the nostalgia!! I reckon it’s a fine kit.

  6. Paul Driver

Another great little vintage Airfix kit but be warned that the end model is really quite small, so not for those with ‘fat-fingers’.
