This model was well packaged and so far isn’t missing anything. I’ve been taking my time with this one because it’s a little more personal. I used to work on these in the USMC. I ended up having to buy different decals to match the squadron I was in, but the ones that come with it are very nice. Very good model, very good price.

What a great model some of the pieces are hard to get out but it did go together with out the broken parts.

  3. Jeff Hansen

This kit comes with all the advertised features. There is a great deal of flash throughout that requires considerable sanding. Most of the panel lines are well-defined, albeit inconsistently molded. Plan on some re-scribing. The decals were a bit of a disappointment– not to the standard I have come to expect from Hasegawa. Resin exhaust nozzles for this kit are a must, you won’t get acceptable results from the two-piece nozzles provided with the kit. In all one of the better Harrier kits I’ve seen but not on par with expectations.

Fit is bad especially in the wing root area, a few places does not fully align, I had to file the underwing pylons to fit them into the slots. Prepare to do quite a bit of putty on this one. It will build into a nice plane once all the work is done. Oh it only comes with the aim9 so you have to get other weapons yourself. Also I think the color is wrong in the instruction, had to do a lot of research as the harrier color changed 2 times at least.

I was hoping Hasegawa has better quality, but seems like it has not moved forward much from the 80’s kits….I will try some chinese brand next time.

  5. LM Jaeckels

The quality of this kit is apparent in that all parts fit together perfectly and need no adjustment. The parts are well detailed, even the smallest one which gives a beautifully detailed final aircraft. The decals are high quality also and the decals transfer easily. Overall, it has been a joy to construct and display.

Check out the book on how to build this awesome kit that includes Eduard’s Photo Etch kit 49271 and 49068 and Aires Cockpit kit 4199 and Wheel Well kit 4201 in with Hasegawa’s instructions.

The box was damaged. Crushed and dented but parts inside were ok. The model parts are in perfect condition.

Amazons shipping was super fast, it arrrived the next day ! (Using my free trial of Prime) The kit was well packed with air bags. AND Amazons price was the cheapest I found!
I buy a lot of kits on ebay and overseas, but Amazons price was the lowest for this particular kit. Some others,,, not so.
Hasegawa has a reputation for manufacturing high quality, very detailed models. This one is no exceptoin. There are a ton of sprues (16) in the box, it is packed! and everything looks fantastic.
    Only 4 gripes I have,,,,
Firstly all the main sprues are stuffed into one bag! Not Good. Things tend to get scratched or warped during shipping and over time in storage.I opened mine up and rebagged the sprues into other bags (2 per bag). The glass is bagged seperately.
Secondly the decal sheet is just laying in the bottom of the box under the bag of sprues, nothing protecting them. Mine have a few scuffs on them. Thirdly the clear canopies look real nice but they have a seam line down the center of them????? Thats going to be difficult to remove and get back to lookinglike it was never there !!
Fourth: Not much ordinance !!! You get fuel tanks, FLIR pods and a pair of Sidewinders for the outerrails. So, 3 empty pylons! This sems to be typical of Hasegawa, they don’t give you enough weapons to fully arm the craft, some have none! but if course they do sell those seperately !!
Overall a great looking kit of an iconic aircraft. Well detailed w/scribed panels, polycaps for positionable nozzles and decals for 2 aircraft. .I bought this one to upgrade from my old Monogram kit (raised panel lines), but still a nice kit.
It may be some time before I get to building it,as I have hundreds of others, so I can’t say anything about how it will go together, but there are plenty of reviews out there, so check them out.
