First of all, I have to say how surprised I was to get this model delivered well before the projected delivery date!
This is an amazing model kit, and for many good reasons:
It has lots of detail which adds to the overall quality of the kit. The molding of all the parts is first rate. Everything fits together good, there is hardly any trimming or sanding to be done, except from where the parts were attached to the plastic spues, but even then it is minor.
There is hardly any painting to be done as the model kit comes in 5 different colors, black, deck brown, hull red, gold, dark gray and even 1 clear part for a section of the forward superstructure which has a decal to go with it to simulate windows! They only painting to do is the propeller shafts, and parts of the small boats. The propellers themselves are molded in gold color! Another plus is that the hull can be built as a waterline model or full hull….and the hull below the waterline is molded in a nice hull red color.
The quality of the plastic itself is also first rate. All the parts are made of thick heavy duty material, not like some of the other brands of plastic model kits that the plastic is so thin it seems like you can almost see through it! This stuff is dense plastic and just adds to the overall great quality of this kit.
The only negative (if you can call it negative) thing about this kit is that there are many many many small parts (hence the high detail) and great care must be taken when removing them from the spues, and great care must be taken while gluing these small parts onto the ship. If you drop them you will probably loose some of them.
This is a skill rating of 3 to 4 and is not for someone’s first build, but for someone with some experience, proper building tools, and the patience to put together a rather tedious, but amazing quality model ship kit.

Very detailed, but that detail comes in the form of excellent molding and very small parts. When I’m talking about small, I mean small. Each anti aircraft gun, which is 3-4 millimeters in size has 3 parts! Just trying to remove the tripod mast from the tree snapped it. Each dingy boat has a rudder to be glued on. Some of these parts are so small that any wind from an opening door or a/c vent will send them flying, never again to be seen. Get out your tweezers for setting the many small pieces. On a positive note, it floats.
