Excellent product, I recommend it, very good service and fast shipping, thank you very much

Cheap set, but you get what you paid for and my rating on this has nothing to do with that. I’m smart enough to know that they aren’t going to be the highest quality tools for the price. What I did expect though is to get EVERYTHING I paid for, cheap or not. In a still sealed box, there was no sandpaper, and the entire set of metal files was missing as well, which is the whole reason I ordered this set.

Also, just so you know what you’re buying, all of the sanding/polishing items, including the cheap little grinder that has no power to it whatsoever, are just cheap tools for doing fingernails. The grinder even says “Nails Decorator” on it.

I bought this to help me get started in a modelling hobby. I’ve used a fair few of the items but still most of them sit in my crafting box unused. They all seem to have good useful purposes, I just haven’t found that use yet.

The staple items (mat, scalpel, metal ruler etc) have been used a lot and they all do what they should nicely.

    Exactly what I needed

    Variety of model building tools.

This seems like a nice little hobby tool kit for the price. My only issue is the handheld drill clearly is stolen form a hand nail kit. It specifically says “nail decorator” in light purple lettering and comes in a sheen light purple bag, clearly marketed towards a feminine nail decorating kit. This was purchased for my son to use for mini figure and model building. Still useable, but I wish it would have been a more neutral item. Just seems weird they couldn’t have got the drill without the lettering.

I have built 1 Gundam Model so far with this kit. I tried to use as many of the items as possible to see how well they worked. They side cutter, knife, and multi grit sanding stick got the most use.

I bought this particular kit because it included both the pin vise and the battery powered rotary tool.

Side cutters – I have had no problems with these, they cut through the model plastic without a problem. I was a little concerned when they first showed up, because the blades did not look like they lined up, but a little pressure moved them into place and I have had no problems with them lining up after that.

Knife – A little weird in that you need to hold the blade still while tightening, just be careful to hold from the backside of the blade. No problems using this item.

Yellow Piece separator – This is surprisingly helpful. I have test fitted pieces together and this little thing made it possible to separate the pieces without damage.

Course Sanding Stick – This is a very aggressive grit. It will quickly remove a nub and then gouge the plastic piece. I recommend only using for removing large chunks and stopping well short of the goal and switching to a finer grit sanding stick to finish off with.

Multi-grit Stick – One of these has gotten the most use during the build. It is a convenient mix of course grit, fine grit, and buffing. However, the sanding grits are used up after one model and more of these will need to be purchased separately. With the three sticks that this kit comes with I should be able to complete 2 or 3 models.

Sanding/Polishing block – The sanding sides are a very course grit and I did not use them often. The polishing side is a soft foam that puts a nice shine on the pieces. I tended to use this less as I worked through the model, so while it is nice, I don’t know that it is necessary.

Tweezers – They hold small parts. I have mostly used the flat tipped ones. If I was applying decals the angle tipped would be useful.

Pin Vise – This small hand powered drill comes with a selection of small drill bits. I used them to drill out the holes of the jets in the feet of the model. The smallest size seemed to have trouble biting into the plastic enough to get started. The variety of other sizes allowed me to drill 2 different size holes of just the right diameter.

Rotary tool – This will be more use for later modifications and simulated battle damage. I did try it for sanding down some nubs. It requires a steady hand to grind just the nub and not slip and damage the plastic around it. The variety of tips will work for multiple different purposes and I look forward to experimenting with it more.

Metal files – I tried a few of these. They are a course grit, similar to the course sanding sticks. Great for bulk removal, but too aggressive for fine removal.

Cutting mat – Prevented me from cutting the table. It was surprisingly thick and sturdy. Also model cement did not stick to it and was easily cleaned up.

Screwdrivers – I did not need to use these.

Ruler – Its about 6 inches long with metric on one side and inches on the other.

Great basic kit when starting off doing miniatures and models
