The media could not be loaded.

Really, really nice model to put together and paint after not building models for more than a decade. So I’m starting up again and this model is my first…so it’s kinda rough. The 109 has always been a favorite of mine, so I was estactic when I saw it here.

The real life pictures were nice to have, but lacked some detailed instructions on assembly. So a beginner or novice may have some issues here and lose patience quickly.

The molded plastic came in dark Army green. Really? Okay this time, but it takes 2-3 coats of paint to cover it. Most Naval crafts are light to medium gray…even in real life. Expect alot of hand painting, Folks. Or at least have some spray paint available.

I didn’t install the four crewmen. I never have before on any models in the past. Don’t plan to in the future either. Did notice there weren’t any Depth Charges with this kit either. But I guess alot of PT boats didn’t. Also, the anchor was already molded in the deck, so I just painted it and added a very small flat necklace chain (not included in kit) to it.

All in all. JFK & me are happy.

Es un producto de muy baja calidad

My only dislike was there was no recommendations for painting. The dull green plastic really needed something to accentuate the boat. Fortunately, I’ve done a lot of these and improvised with colors to fit the boat.

There was a dude here who gave it one star, I don’t understand why. Great kit

I ordered the Revell version to learn about modelling and out of an appreciation for the historic significance of the PT109. I appreciated Revell’s detail and faithfulness to the actual ship. But as a beginner, there were things about my assembly that I was unhappy with, so I thought it would be fun to tackle the AMT version to correct my mistakes. But I was disappointed on several levels. The inferior quality was instantly noticable – in the packaging, molding of pieces, faithfulness to history, and carelessness in instructions (the painting in particular). Also sad was the lack of detail and respect for JFK’s heroism in the historical summary on the instruction sheet. The display stand for the ship is oddly labeled “Torpedo Elco Boat.”
I will not likely purchase another AMT model.
