The kit comes in a molded off white color. The underside and interior is black. No problems noted with the quality of the kit, although for about the same cost, I would recommend Tamiya.

Note: there’s no white decals for the hood or side panels so if you’d like to build the kit as depicted on the box, you’ll need Bare-Metal foil and a fresh knife blade and carefully apply/mask your work, or you could simply paint the model in Testor’s Gloss Red (Sku:1203). Good luck!

I had so much fun building this beetle. This is my dream car and being able to do a unique one was awesome. It took me around 3 hours to build and I was really surprised by how fast it was. The instructions it’s really helpful, it can get a little confuse on some points but nothing impossible to figure out. The only reason I’m not giving it a 5 star it’s because some of the parts doesn’t fit well on the little holes and it has to be glued, no big deal tho. I also would recommend use a little scissors to cut the parts off, I broke one and luckily was a piece that has different options to be choose. Over all, it’s a great hobby to have and I’ll highly recommend. (I actually already have other 4 on my shopping cart to be bought 🤪).

I purchased this kit from Hobby Lobby but decided to review it on Amazon.

The kit itself is a little misleading if you bought it in stores. I expected the pieces to be colored how they’re pictured on the box, but instead most pieces came white. This isn’t a big deal, as I bought a can of model spray paint which was relatively cheap.

Putting together this model was an extraordinary pain. This was my first model kit, and it quickly became clear that many of the pieces do not snap together as easily as you’d expect. Many pieces required additional trimming and holes needed to be widened to fit the mounting pegs, and overall it was difficult to snap things together. It took much longer than I anticipated. My finished version of the model is far from perfect as the hood and trunk doors do not easily align with the chassis.

Overall, this is a decent model kit if you have the time and dedication to creating a quality scale model. I like the theme as well. The decals are also decent; however some of the decals I put on quickly fell off or did not stick at all, even after letting them to dry. A few of the decals cracked as well, probably due to my error.

I hated buying the kit due to being coke advertising. But I wanted the car.

  7. Nice kit.

If people would read the box before they ordered it they would realize it needs paint and glue to assemble.
I had no problems with this model kit.

I wish I had found and read reviews before I picked this up for my son. I sat down to build it with him, but the instructions are awful and the pieces don’t fit well at all. We have good model glue and liked that the parts were just white, black, and chrome. After fussing with getting things to fit and having to reverse parts of the instructions, we decided to toss it. Our last model project, a fire engine by a different company, looked more complicated. We had no issues with that one though.

We bought this at Hobby Lobby, not Amazon, so we won’t be a verified purchase, We are Very disappointed with this model. A snap together model seemed like a good option for a first-time model maker. The pieces didn’t fit together properly, and some broke when we tried to put the together. Now we don’t have front wheels, but we do have a very sad child!
