its just like I remembered as a kid

  2. Gary Rayburn

uno de los postes del chasis esta doblado … por lo mismo de caja dañada

I painted mine matte black and it looks great. Fitting was tight but I had trouble with the side mirrors and completely aborted the exhaust cross system where the headers meet. Detailing and decal application is not for the timid or inexperienced. I would still recommend it for advanced modelers!

  4. gilberto llanes

Modelo poco vendido y conocido.

For me, this was the most anticipated kit to be released. I bought an ’84 new way back and constantly asked Revell if and when they would release a kit of an important part of the muscle car era.

The engine consists of 22 pieces including the exhaust crossover pipe.

The chassis assembly was simple consisting of 22 pieces including the tires and rims. The wheels consisted of nicely chromed mag rims and generic rubber tires (no markings). My ’84 had raised white letter Goodyear Eagle GT’s.
I spoke with Revell and they stated the licensing fees from Goodyear as the reason. It’s a shame they can’t see it as free advertising.
The wheel assembly attaches by trapping a steel pin on the rim with a washer then pressing the pin into a hole on the axles. The rims were nicely done and had a pre-printed red stripe on each.

The interior consisted of 13 pieces which I brush painted with Apple Barrel Tuscan red then replicated the wood grain patterns with browns and black. The leather/vinyl/plastic areas of the interior were brushed with Tamiya gloss coat.

The Lightning Rods shifter should have the shifter closest to the driver in the forward position (P). The other two should be in a forward position when in normal driving conditions or parked. I didn’t correct this issue on my kit.
The dash panel captures a gauge decal behind a clear piece behind the dash front. Revell missed details here also. The gauges are not flush with the dash panel but recessed. I painted around my dash panel with flat black to give the illusion of being recessed.

I painted the body with Testors spray gloss black and after one week drying time, masked and sprayed the silver lower body. All the chrome trim is hand paintd Testors silver though I debated about a slight custom touch and painted them semi-gloss black. As usual, all the glass is held in place with Elmer’s white glue.

The decals were thin and went on easily. The decal on the nose above the grilles should be applied first as the corners need to be wrapped around to meet the side decals. I would advise applying the upper body decals first before cementing the mirrors in place as there is a gap in the striping.

The front directionals are painted with orange fingernail polish. The rear taillights are clear red and the body behind them was painted silver before gluing in place.

The taillight lenses should have a black line down the middle but I don’t think my hands are steady enough to do it. In ’84 the removed the line and added the Olds logo in the middle of the lense.

One set of license plates are included. Decals for the three locks and two door handles are included. The locks decals have a black line down the middle to represent the key slot. I used these decals but it might look better if just painted. Four decals for the wheel hubs and one for the steering wheel horn button.

Over all I am very happy with this kit. I think Revell could have done a couple of things differently like extending the front decal over the headlights to wrap around the side a little bit more to be easier to hide.

What you see here has not been polished or coated. I did discover that a eye glasses cleaning cloth makes a very nice polishing cloth for my cars. I tried it in one place where I had a very annoying fingerprint.

  10. Bridog

Car came with all the parts and everything. Love how everything looks but carrier was not gentle with my car found some damage to it luckily I was able to save it and finish. Amazon definitely should find a better delivery company cause ups did not handle with care.
