This is no Tamiya, but it’s not bad and is typical of Revell. On the one hand you get to enjoy assembling a GMC truck from the 70s with the same panel lines and mirrors as the Chevy driven by Chief Brody in the original Jaws (albeit that was a soft top), and the snow plow, fog lights, roll bars, gas can, spare tire and extra chrome plating are all a plus, on the other hand expect that everything doesn’t quite fit exactly without a great deal of patience as Revell just doesn’t provide the same precision and assembly-cleverness that we wish they had. Decals offer some additional pop, although only two choices for theme – and neither are particularly compelling. It doesn’t look like they installed the rear view mirror in the picture on the box, and in retrospect I shouldn’t have either. Although I appreciate the detail, gluing that tiny part on clear plastic is a game you only get to play once – if I had to do over I’d pass. The engine compartment and engine itself lacks appreciable detail, although Revell threw lots of chrome at it (valve covers, intake manifold, carb). And the engine just seems tiny under the hood. Is that a V-6? Overall a fun build and not unhappy with results. I give it a B+

  2. John the Semi-Pro Model Builder

The fit and finish of the kit is not good. I had to use body filler putty to close the gap in the oil pan and transmission. The intake manifold is not true to the small block GM of the era. The wheels are 8 lug which would be found on a 3/4 ton truck – this is a half ton. The interior lacks details like representations of door handles and so on. This was more like an AMT kit rather than the detail and quality I have come to expect from Revell. This is no reflection on the seller of the product.

What a stunning little model for under £30 this provided hours and hours of enjoyment.

The kit is detailed and comes with options for various set ups. All the details were well cast and there is nothing that was disappointing about this model.

This was the first model that I spent proper time on and the first model that I’ve painted properly and it was an excellent Model for a modestly skilled model.

All of the components needed sanding and filing down due to quite noticeable moulding marks but to be honest this just added to the process of making the model look realistic.

The item arrived in good time well packaged and I’m seriously tempted to buy another one!

This is by far the best model for the price range that I’ve completed in a long long time and has resulted in me being hooked!

There is no reason it is over $25.00 on Prime. this Model is still being Produced / Shipped even though Revell is bankrupt. QCP took over operations for Revell and are still producing this model and there is no limited production as of 2021.

     Fun build

There was nothing to dislike whilst making this model. I have some disability and enjoy making Revell/Revell Monogram models, in particular due to the accuracy of the models and it is a good hobby I have enjoyed for years.

got it to put the body on my SCX-24.

  8. Gareth Crossley

this is superb representation of the real thing . parts fit together well . i added extra detail to engine , plough and added tow hitch and it looks bang on . i will be pleased to put this on display at this years model shows.

  9. julie antrobus

  10. Amazon Customer

    Great product, very detailed.

  11. Amazon Customer

It doesn’t come with paint so it’s all white and hard to assemble

  12. Cameron Phipps

Easy to follow directions only took about five hours to put together including prep and paint work. Recommended for an amateur model builder

This kit was ok in my opinion. I understand its a re-release of an older kit but Revell should have changed a few things such as the severely lacking detail of the engine and engine bay. For me that is the first thing I put together is the engine and one part that should have plenty of detail. The truck overall is ok, lacks detail but on the outside looks fine. the snow plow on the other hand is top of the line. Mold lines are fine, detail is great, and overall a fine addition to the kit. I use this kit frequently as a base for more custom trucks I make. In my opinion worth buying, just dont expect show type quality. Good for the average modeler.
