The kit itself fits together very well,however the canopy does not at least not on mine and I e been modelling since I was 10 so that’s 49 years doing many jet fighters so the canopy not fitting correctly is a 1 star fail or it would be 5 stars the decals aren’t so good either especially compared to italleri decals which are a joy to use but overall I am happy with the outcome

There have been many kits that have been hyped but failed to live up to the expectations through issues with fit, detail ease of build but the Tamiya 1/48 F-14D is one that lives up to the expectation. It’s accurate and easy to build as long as you follow the instructions, the fit is so good and precise that it literally clicks into place sometimes. This is not to say that care does not have to be taken, you must ensure that the mating surfaces are smooth and that all evidence of sprue attachments are removed as the fit can be affected should you not do this. Other than that as long as you follow the instructions you’ll have a painless and enjoyable build.

Having done only a few prior models, including one tamiya f-117, most were revell and academy, this model was a pleasure to build. At first the amount of parts and sprues can seem intimidating but its actually not that bad. I was able to assemble different sections, paint, weather, coat, decals, etc..then assemble all sections at the final step. This has been the only model that I’ve built were I could do this because there was very little sanding and no putty needed. Overall it’s a great model, a little pricey but like most things you get what you pay for!

Pricey and that is the way of models in 1/48 lately. This one is a good deal at about $75.00 or so but at over $100.00 it is no deal. The model is great in detail and you get four crew members to choose from. The assembly of the wings is a project but Tamiya has made the whole thing smooth. The wings have honeycomb inserts for the swing effect. This is a 5 if you can get it for the right price.

Received today and added to stash. Exceptional quality and ease of assembly so typical of Tamiya. Have built F14 A from another and had some challenges with fit but that’s all part of modelling. Colour schemes and accessories exceptional which includes crew. Have also received new Airfix Vulcan. Buy that too while stocks last

I thought I was buying a model airplane already assembled, but it was a model that I had to assemble. I had discarded the box that it came in, so I had to pay shipping and packaging. To return the item it cost me almost $30.00. I didn’t like that at all
