  1. GD Biddi

Really enjoyed this model from build to paint finishing. Good quality and instruction sheets.

I originally built this kit back in 2003 when it first came out. For all its faults I actually enjoyed building it, so I decided to try it again more than a decade later. It’s released as an update of an old Tamiya M113 kit with new OIF parts and features. Did I say old? Yes, the base kit is from 1974 (YIKES!). It’s been released and re-released over the decades with added new parts and figures.

Pros: Easy kit to build – (good fit, small parts count), fairly nice representation of an OIF M-113, the new parts (which includes stowage) have great detail and the moldings are clean – a testament to 21st century molding technology.

Cons: the base kit is showing its age badly – very badly. The original kit was motorized so you can see motorization holes and fixed, molded-on suspension arms – it’s really a relic of a bygone era. Why can’t Tamiya just remold everything? Also, in one of its previous incarnations (re-released in the 1980’s, I think), this kit had an interior. For this version, this feature was entirely omitted.

    Recommended (with reservations).

An easy model but with lots of opportunities to customise

  4. Rex

Tamiya version of this 1/35 M1113A2 is spot on . A must have for your collection of Armor. A real joy to build

  5. Paskey

  6. Tony

Tamiya model kit have not built it yet

  7. GD Biddi

Decided to not weather this one and leave it plain Jane. No fit issues at all. Accessories were well detailed and a pleasure to paint. Well worth the money. You will enjoy this one!

  8. Theodore Buzzelli

What a great looking little APC which comes with quite a lot of accessories and crew. Good value kit very well made.

  9. Stephen Hawker

This is a good model kit although it does have a few drawbacks. This has been reissued many times over the years and since it’s original release they have removed the engine and interior components even though the spots for them are still there. It comes with plenty of components to add to the exterior which afforded me the opportunity to dress it up like the way we actually went to the field with everything strapped to the outside. You can set it up in different configurations which so you can create your own special touch. It was worth the money spent.

  10. Theodore Buzzelli

Good value kit with plenty of detail – ideal for the diorama.

  11. JQ

Nice model and fun to put together

  12. James Garver

The kit was a little smaller than expected but overall extremely high quality as usual from Tamiya. I did have to purchase an aftermarket set of tracks as this kit still comes with the low quality rubber band tracks but that was the only upgrade required.

  13. Charlie

I’ve never been disappointed with a Tamiya model. This is another good one of a somewhat obscure vehicle. It’s very detailed and accurate. A nice addition to the collection.
