If you like HO trains this train engine is great to have on display or you can run it on your Ho track

This locomotive i bought for a low price on here and then it went up afterwards however its worth it. The loco i will say has 8 wheel drive, electrical pickup is great . I suggest to run it in about 15 to 30 min each direction to break in the motor. speaking of the motor it is a 5 pole skew wound motor which has a very small flywheel to smooth out operation as most locomotives have it for and when it you slow it down it will carry the momentum however this one is so tiny in this particular locomotive that it dont carry the momentum. Walthers based this shell as i was pointed out as a Cox model train company and they did a good job with it . only flaw i seen with my example was a paint defect on the nose however it was just a small yellow dot from factory not a big deal especially what i paid for it. i will say this could handle at least 15 to 20 cars on level track and it handles 18 inch radius curves as a min. The couplers are disapontment as they used the Bachmann EZ mate type which has a plastic spring piece that will stop doing what it does to keep coupler closed eventually so switch this to ezmate 2 or Kadees. even the Walthers kadee copied couplers known as Proto MAx metal knucle couplers will work as well. This has also One headlight in the cab no directional lighting but otherwise its fine and you can add it youself if you wanted and then ive been informed DCC will be easy to convert. NOTE: makes sure check the truck bottoms for excess oil and clean it up before use that way wpnt cause issues. GREAT LOCOMOTIVE

  5. Bobby K.

This is a nice engine for the money. It works well and looks very realistic. I set it up around our Christmas tree after my old engine finally failed and this did the job pulling quite a few cars.

  6. Douglas B. Egenolf

Love how the engine will slow down while going downhill!!! Wished Walther offered more choices in road numbers!!!

  7. Physics Geek

Walthers builds high quality products ! All wheels provide electrical pickup, all wheels provide propulsion, great low to high speed operation (as long as your DC power pack provides a smooth ramp up in voltage). I liked the locomotive so much, I bought a second one.

  8. Bell

This is a cheap toy locomotive, but it was beautifully packaged and looks very good in all details. And received quickly. Great work by Amazon and its vendor. Very happy with this.
