This is an outstanding kit for the price. I have returned to model aircraft after some 20 years and honestly i am blown away by the improvements in the kit quality provided by airfix. Their new moulds are crisp well detailed and very easy to put together. airfix have completely turned it around from the boxes of flash and misaligned mouldings of my childhood.

Ive included pictures of my first build of this kit, I have done some modifications like making the seatbelts out of kitchen foil and using filler on all the seams. The filler is not all that necessary if im honest the kit has very good fit and i only used it to avoid having seems show up when i applied a wash. I also painted it entirely with cheap artist oil paints and varnished with cheap wood polyurethane varnish.

Even at the £6.99 rrp this kit is a bargain but at the current price of £4.18 im buying 3 more to make a diorama. Congratulations to airfix i quit models as a kid but come back as an adult thanks to absolutely astounding turnaround in quality.

*As a note the negative reviews seem to primarily be a result of people who dont understand that paint and glue are not included in model kits as an industry standard. If you need some paint and glue i would recommend getting one of the gift sets that show the inclusion of paint and glue they are good value and are a great way to find out if the hobby is for you

The worst model for fit I have built. I assume I just got a bad one. Cockpit seat parts are too large for theier place in fuselage, so I had to cut them down and assemble it from the outside. Top and bottom wing parts are different sizes, so one has to be sanded down to match the other, and the fuselage does not fit into the wing pieces without more cutting and sanding. Just horrible. Using it to practice on – no way it’ll ever look good enough to display.

(No glue or paint is included in this kit)
This is a great little kit from Airfix to make a Mk 1 Hurricane from the very early days of WW2. It is easy to assemble. The kit does have some alternative parts a two or three bladed propeller, different tail sections and few other parts so if you know what you are doing maybe you could make an alternative version but the supplied instructions, paint scheme and decals are for the early Mk 1 only. I brush painted mine using some paints I had left over from an Airfix starter set. I also used the pilot although he is not super detailed I felt he added more detail to what is a rather bland cockpit, if you do use him you may have to chop his feet off to get him to fit, I did.
For the enjoyment and time spent I think this little kit is worth the money.
I did a search and this aircraft or one with the same numbers is on show at Tangmere aircraft museum along with many other interesting aircraft.

The kit went together nicely, but when I opened the sealed bag containing the clear sprue, it was missing the cockpit canopy. A pity, since the rest of the kit is light years ahead of the older 1/72 kits from the 1970s and 1980s. Still sitting on my desk until I work up the enthusiasm to scratch build the sliding portion of the canopy.

I have built many of these airfix kits. I think this kit is by far one of the best. It is an excellent value for the price. For the price, it is better than most tamiya and Hasegawa kits of the Hurricane.

    Well worth price

This is a re-release of Airfix’s nice fabric wing Hurricane mk I kit from 2013. The added bonus with this issue is whilst it’s in the cheaper series 1 range (only one set of markings), in order to make the aircraft on the box they have included the full set of parts from the Series 2 version of the kit. Thus if the modeller wishes to use aftermarket decals, they can make almost any early Hurricane from this kit and save a few ££s

Kit built nice. There are some fiddly bits (cockpit, landing gear), but worth the effort. Quite a bit of nice detail for a 1/72 fighter kit. Decals were a treat to use (as it tends to be with Airfix kits).

Brought this for my brother for Christmas. He has made several like this. He enjoyed making it. Easy to follow instructions.

    These new molds are fantastic.
First off I’m glad we’re back to the action-packed painted covers, they are really inspirational. this is what got our imaginations fired up as kids.
My 14-year old son gave this kit to me fore Christmas. I have been building models since I was his age and I have to say in the past 10 years I pretty much exclusively build Airfix kits. They are a great combination of easy-to-understand instructions, solid, easily bondable plastic, and fantastic detail. The models are made in such a way that it can be as simple or complicated, quick or detailed a build as you want. That said, there is a great amount of detail for a “level 1” kit. all the panel and part etchings are very detailed. An example of the customizability, the radiator unit has not only the cover, but the interior elements as well. this offers the opportunity to detail as much or as little as you’d like. very detailed and faithful cockpit and exterior. intricate but not difficult to build–a good balance of challenge and fun.
Also the plastic takes the paint well. I often forget to prime parts, and it is not a problem.

Great kit! My first after a long reprieve from modeling.

  12. D. Fleming

nice cheap and cheerful kit. being airfix, detail is ok as is fit, but fit needs a dry run first. ideal for an empty cockpit display , leaving a pilot for another kit. ideal for novices or a quick fun build. paint and glue not included
