do not clear coat this model, painted twice, with out primer and with and the red from the plastlc bleed thru. i sampled 3 different clear coats. same problem. been building models for over 45 years never had this happen. never build a model molded in red again. the paint was fine, but lost my decals after having to repaint

No, this has to do with the quality of the product that AMT has put out.
I had purchased this kit as a proxy for a truck my dad owned in the late 1970’s. It was supposed to be a gift for his birthday, but after assembly, I would be embarrassed to give it to an enemy.
Like most AMT kits, older molds lead to heavy lines, lots of flash, and twisted parts. This was more of a jigsaw puzzle without straight edges than a model. Also, this truck is molded in Coke red, and very hard to paint over.
This body style is hard to come by, but please, consider building something else!
