   Amazing kit! This is by far one of the most detailed and authentic scale models that I have seen for consumers. Dragon is known in the hobby as being the best for detail and this kit certainly delivers in that respect.

   There is an abundance of detail here. There is literally nothing left out when comparing this model with the variety of photos and prints that are available of this fine aircraft. From the smallest hinges to the contours of control surfaces, it is all replicated in this kit thanks to new tooling. Assembly is a challenge, as it should be for a model of this scope, but only because of the multitude of parts and pieces that have been produced for this kit. Typical to a Dragon model, the fits of pieces are very good and within tolerance – putty and even some sanding is kept to a minimum. One of the best things that I found in the assembly of this kit is that Dragon has done their homework and found the best placement of parts on the sprue trees. This meant that when I cut or trimmed a piece from the tree, there was very little remaining plastic or mold deformations to deal with. A very fine sanding film or board is pretty much all you need if you cut correctly. A thin cement, such as Tamiya’s Extra Thin Cement, is a necessity!

   The only negatives that I could find in this set is the instructions, which are lacking in some respects but overall sufficient for anyone that has experience with building highly technical and detailed scale models. The key word here is experienced – I would not recommend this kit to anyone who doesn’t have some higher level modeling experience, as this kit can be daunting for anyone without the patience or skills to do it justice. It took me about two weeks to assemble this kit working on it nightly and with some extra weekend time.

   Overall, this kit has earned its place as one of my all-time favorites. Well worth the purchase – and may end up getting another just to build with a different paint scheme and squadron markings.

   This is a pretty good kit, but it’s unnecessarily complicated. The result is nice, but be ready for some tests of your patience. The assembly of the engine nacelles to the wings will make you grind your teeth!
