A nice kit. The plastic nose cone and the 16th of an inch balsa stringers not the best but overall good.

Love the laser cuts. Very detailed model.

Some parts are hard to free from sheet but that’s model building

so you want to build a balsa kit…total fun until you want to paint it. you need to develop this skill before you try it on the kit you just built. guillow no longer has any paints.soo..when you go to the hobby store.you will find out you are on your own, a lost art .they will tell you to make a test set up a grid with balsa sticks and doped tissue …and try to see what diffent paints do to it….do it or you will ruin your kit..if you followed guillows book and use wood glue as a dope. the tissue will sag with each painting….good luck, these kits are not for the faint of heart..the guy at our local hobby store started to buid one tossed it in the trash. went back to plastic.

One of the easier to build models of the 500 series. It’s die-cut, which takes a lot more patience to deal with than laser-cut. I was using colored tissue paper but the quality of some of the paper was so poor that it tore while shrinking. Now I used the provided tissue. It’s strong. Make sure the grain of the tissue is oriented correctly. I use thinned white glue with a fine brush to apply the tissue. Thinned EZ Dope and Testors acrylic paint do a nice job. A decal applying solvent solution is a must.

Bought this kit as 1 of 2 to get myself back into the hobby and to convert to RC using micro servos (HK5320s) and Plantraco radio gear.
Kit box was crushed on delivery, but the contents was all intact. The Die-cut balsa is by no means contest grade and possibly a little heavy for RC conversion – Many people who convert these kits to RC cut new parts out of lighter grade balsa. See the RCgroups forums for more info and examples.
Kit went together well and although not flown yet I’m confident it will.
Overall a good kit- not ideal for your first build but any experienced modeller will be able to manage this without trouble.

Great balsa plane. This is the second airplane I’ve build. It went together very easy and was very enjoyable to build. I’m ready to build another.

Happy with the fast service but a little disappointed with the kit. The materials are not made as good as in the past. A sign of the times, I guess but it wasn’t terrible.

No way a replica of a 109.poor quality and broken balsa essential for construction
