  1. Allan

Model was supposed to be for Cherokee 140, however box contained some parts for a different aircraft….No response from Guillow’s so I returned box for a replacement

update: Guillow’s did respond and offered to immediately replace any defective or missing parts

This is a kit that needs special assembling skills. Shown in amazon however was photo of completed airplane. I had to return as I felt that I won’t be able to assemble.

  3. Allan

it was a fun kit to build. but its overbuilt and i doubt that it will fly more than a little bit. i would lighten it up a lot if i ever build another. cool looking bird tho

  4. Andreatta Thomas

THE KIT WAS o.k. BUT i SHOULD HAVE SHOPPED PRICE BEFORE i BOUGHT THIS ONE , I OVERPAID BECAUSE OF NOT CHECKING IT OUT FIRST.

Awesome model. This is no snap together model. You actually have to build it. Love it! I am training in a Piper Cherokee 140 so I bought the model to put in my office.

Guillows have been doing this for years and it still hits the spot with old traditionalists like me. Don’t buy this product if you’re looking for something that snaps together in minutes; it is a ‘proper’ kit in as much as you’ll need to spend quite a few evenings at the workbench (or dining room table). You’ll probably want to spend a bit longer than that if you do actually want it to fly too. It’s possible to build the model very badly if you rush or hurry it, so take your time.

If you do want to build and fly a great little rubber powered plane, or indeed convert it to micro radio control, this could be the model for you. The Piper Cherokee was a cracking little aeroplane and Guillows have faithfully reproduced all its charm here. Enjoy!

I really like the new laser cut material. wing attachment was very good. the decals were marginal. the long stripe to go along the side was much too long . the ones for the wheel pants didn’t fit well at all. plastic cowl was near impossible to attach.

  8. Lee Saviers

This was an ok model until I got to the wheels and wheel pants. Wheels were way bigger than plan shows; at least 1/4” and too wide to fit between plastic pant halves. Also, front wheel was hard wood and finished on 1 side only. Be careful with this model!

I’ve been an avid model builder since I’ve been a kid. Plastic, wood, static, RC. Guillows has been around for a while and have always produced a good, quality product. This little kit is no exception. The quality of the laser cutting, the balsa itself and overall density, thickness of the wood is excellent! The item was delivered in 1 day, in perfect condition, no damage to box or contents at all. Instructions are what you would expect for a kit such as this, you may need to make some changes throughout the build. Already looking at other Guillows kits for future build. Excellent kit and quality contents! Oh, except for the little critter (roach😱) that got trapped inside the plastic bag with the wheels, LOL.
UPDATE- got into this little kit and what a beauty! Simple nice fit of ALL parts. Finish in a few days. Update to follow. Update 22421
90% complete. Still some touch up and test flights. I coated it pretty good with sig for, it’s heavy yes. Built with no intention to fly. Shelf queen.

This is quite possibly the worst wooden model you could buy. There are little to no instructions on how to build this model. There are a few very poor diagrams and small nonsensical notes scrawled all over the page. The wood is incredibly flimsy and poorly cut so it breaks as you take it out of the wood mold. Even with a craft knife, it was impossible to get the parts away from the backing wood. To make things even worse, the kit doesn’t come with all of the parts you need to make a complete model, it even states that you might be able to make some of the parts out of balsa wood but that they don’t come in the kit.

All in all the worst experience I have ever had making a model. Definitely not worth over £50, I wish I could get my money back.

  12. Jon

Took me about a week to build, working maybe an hour a day.
The windshield was thrust difficult to work on.

I really liked the laser cut parts as they were easily removed. the instructions and plans were very good. the only thing I had a lot of difficulty with was the wind shield. I think it should have been a molded plastic since it required compound curves.
