Usually a model of this scale would be easier to assemble, but this one had almost impossibly small parts. The detailing on the hull is impressive and comes with several variations of the vessel. The directions weren’t overly clear, but that only slowed the process rather than halt it. Looks great. Gold name plate really classes this up.

  2. Mike

grate scale and can be 3 different ships

  3. Liza Jane

If he doesn’t love it, I will be very surprised; but I know his father will enjoy helping him to build it.

This one is a good model, but it’s literally the exact same as every other LA class sub model. So, if you’re thinking of getting another LA class, just buy one. Otherwise, detailed and excellent model. Paint not included of course.

  5. Alex S.

Pretty decent kit, particularly for the money. Fit could be a bit better and there are a few minor accuracy errors compared to the real ship, but nothing major. Overall quite happy with it.

  6. Neill DeNaples

    Outstanding, very accurate kit.

I wanted a late model Los Angeles class sub. I was very pleased to find in the kit that Riich has included the early upper hull, dive planes and sail along with a late upper hull, dive planes and sail. With a little scratch building you can build one full hull version and a water line version. You will need to build a new dorsal fin as only one is included in the kit. Detail is excellent. There are two PE screws included as well as a styrene one. There also appears to be a PE screw for a 1/700th sub. The top of the sail for each version is provided as a closed up version and one for mounting the various periscopes, snorkels, etc. Both versions of the sail are slide molded in one piece (excluding the top). Sail mounts into a slot in the hull minimizing the join and making it easier to get a square fit.

I bought this as a gift for my Father for Christmas. He has thoroughly enjoyed building the models. The set has lead him to read and look into the sub design history.
