I build a lot of models as my main hobby. I have built about 20 of the Metal Earth models and enjoy building them and looking at them. I especially like the plain small shiny steel models that are kind of quirky caricatures of the originals – they are mostly correct and represent the originals well. However, theses models are getting larger and the original “bend and twist tabs” do not suit these larger models well. They are still the tiny little tags and make it very frustrating for building these larger and heavier models. By the time I got to the end of this one, I was afraid to handle it as it was so flimsy with all of the tiny tabs barely holding it together. To make these better, Metal Earth needs to make the tabs proportional to the size of the model and add more tabs as these planes are increasingly complex. A+ on the graphics, though…

Better start in the “easy” class. Need skill and patience.

Descripción exacta del producto. Buen material. Justo lo que buscaba.

  4. JsuTak

The details great. The assembly process requires a lot of dexterity and is not easy if you have bigger hands.

If you have never one one of these metal models, I would suggest a simpler one like the SR-71 Blackbird or even the “Baby Yoda”.

Very detailed model of the Lightning. The difficulty rating as listed was pretty accurate, and I’ve been building these Metal Earth models for quite a few years now.
This is definitely not a model for beginners; I’d suggest building a couple of the simpler models like the Wright Brothers Flyer and the Spirit of Saint Louis first so you get an idea of how these models and their instructions work.

  6. DESOTOJO

The media could not be loaded.

Far too much torque is applied to the center fuselage and not nearly enough pins to hold it together. All of that is literally held on by three pins… Absolutely terrible design.

  7. Donrey

Just started into the Metal Earth Puzzles and finding them fun to put together. Challenging puzzle much like the others and requires patience.

  8. Jacob Carlson

As someone who struggles with cones in these metal earth models this plane in particular was very hard. The fuselage comes in multiple smaller pieces instead of larger pieces like the B-24 which lead to some frustrations, but, overall another excellent model. Needs patience!

  9. Ascari

You may enjoy this type of model.
    As described.
I did not enjoy pressing to get parts to fit. But this it how the model works. Bend press and press. Try not to break. And use you imagination. Kinda like a bendy Lego but with out the Lego
