I had the opportunity to tour the real CV-10 Yorktown last Spring. Fascinated, I decided to build a model of the ship. Before I tackled this, I built several aircraft models, considering it had been many years since my last model build.I had assembled the tools (sprue cutter, glue dropper tip, airbrush, tweezers, etc.). Finally I set to work on the Yorktown.
With a scale of 1/700, the parts are TINY. Frequently, I had to employ a magnifying glass to see where and how the parts fit. I lost several parts when cutting them from the sprue. Some I was able to find, but there is still an anchor somewhere in my den.
The instructions are cryptic. On the hangar deck, instructions say, “Make hole,” with a vague drawing suggesting the possible location for the hole. Two pages later, I learned where the hole was to be. The kit has many pre-made holes, so I am puzzled as to why the modeler is to be making some random hole. In another instance, there was the ghost of a slot on the hull for a part to mount. I had to experiment with an Exacto knife, enlarging the slot so the part would fit. There were several assemblies with no instructions for their location.
On the whole, now that the model is finished, I found the exercise somewhat frustrating, leaving me a model that I’m disappointed with in both the process and end-result.

deliver early and the model is really detail

Good model but tiny pieces. Bought for my ten year old but needs lots of adult help to complete. Otherwise good for the money.

My Grandson has been very good at building all sorts of things with Legos, I thought this would be a great next step in his intrest. This is an Aircraft Carrier that my wife and I had taken him and his brother on in Charleston, SC. He was very interested in this model because he could relate to having been on the actual ship.

Tthe piees were way to small for a person of senior years.to try to assemble.. The model it self is great.

I give this product five star because its in really good quality. More than 600 parts in good shape, a bit sophisticated but a lot of fun. I have bought a lot of models at the same time, but this one is really a good one. Don’t just consider its a bit expensive than some other model, this one is really worth money.
