I was impressed that you get 5 motorized vehicles for $20. My 9 year old grandson didn’t need any help with assembly and was able to follow directions easily.

I highly recommend this STEM kit. I got it for my 5-year-old twin boys. Of course, I had to do most of the assembling myself but the kids participated. They looked at the instructions, found the right parts and prepared them. The screws are tiny, so I had to insert the screws and start screwing them, and the boys finished the screwing. But their thrills from discovering all the mechanics… Oh, my. It’s worth a lot. So far, we have assembled three models out of five, and they all work (go forward). The car and the aircraft are pushed forward by the air flow created by the propeller that is rotated by the motor. The off-road vehicle is pushed forward by a gear system. It’s so cool to study with kids how these vehicles work. VERY IMPORTANT. For the air craft particularly, use new ALKALINE batteries. They are more powerful than rechargeable ones, which makes a difference. At first, we used a rechargeable battery for the aircraft, and it didn’t go. The propeller was spinning but the aircraft didn’t go forward. However, when we inserted alkaline batteries, the propeller stated to spin much faster, which created the required air flow to push the aircraft forward. I hope my review helped. Enjoy a wonderful STEM time with your kids that this kit provides. UPDATE. We have assembled all the vehicles now. They all work great! They zoom so fast. Each one has its own mechanics. I will be definitely looking for other STEM kits like this one.

The car goes pretty fast but it isn’t designed to slam into a wall. The awesome thing about these kits is that they come with multiple vehicles. Not for young kids. Great gift for a kid interested in STEM.

These were a hit! Grandson wanted to make one after another. His dad did have to help some and the motor has to be put in correctly or the vehicles go backward. These are not meant to be super durable. We saw it as a learning experience. With each vehicle grandson could do a little more on his own. Don’t forget to get batteries.

Got these as a gift for my 8yr old son. He LOVED them! Out then together quickly and easily on his own. He felt so cool and so smart. The wood pieces aren’t very “durable” as they can easily crack or slip out of their slots. But for the most part, these are great and my son enjoys playing with them and displaying them.

Looked for a present for an Engineering friend’s 5 year old son for his birthday. What a hit! When he opened the gift, he didn’t want to open any more. He wanted to start putting this together. He is very smart for his age. His Dad says he puts these together regularly and his Mom thanked me for getting it for him.

  7. Ken

Was fun building it for my kid and when it works, it works okay.

    Somethings you should expect
the gears are plastic, so any resistance will cause them to wear fast.
The wires are extremely thin, you should solder them on. If you don’t you may find the kits may not work well or at all due to not enough power.
The wood needs to be handled without too much pressure or it will break.
Don’t make things too tight or it will cause premature wear or cause the car not to move.

  8. Naturalgearhead

Used for a stem activity and kids loved it
