What a fantastic build.Looks great, everything fitted perfect.Looks stunning. The highs, hitting the Bismarck, forcing her back to Brest, the lows getting bombed by Japanese aircraft, which led to her eventual sinking.I love Tamiya kits, wish they would make a Scharnhorst 1/350.That would be amazing.

The HMS Prince of Wales battleship kit was what I expected from Tamiya: Appropriate model scale, excellent casting of parts, great detail, and clear and informative instructions. Recommended.

Beautiful kit but tarnished by false advertising. Kit was described as having ‘extensive photo etch parts included for adding more realism’. This was the primary reason I purchased from this seller as photo etch sets are quite expensive and having one included represented exceptional value. However no photo etch parts were included whatsoever. Contacted seller who informed me they had no way of knowing what was included in kit and advised me to contact Tamiya myself. This sellers refusal to stand behind the product they sell on their site as advertised, and the expectation that their customers must instead be responsible for their own customer service issue unfortunately keeps me from recommending them and likewise I will take my business elsewhere in the future.

This is my first plastic model ship for about 30 years and how they have come on. Really well detailed sprues, components easily cut from sprue (buy a specialised sprue cutter with tiny jaws) and should make a fine model. Beware – this isn’t a weekend project, more like several weeks, and lots of the components are seriously small and easy to drop on the floor. Make sure you have a powerful torch (or the wife) handy to find them. It’s also essential to paint the small parts before cutting them off the sprue as painting on the model is difficult. When locating the tiny bits on the model I found that reverse tweezers are ideal – these naturally grip the item by spring and you have to squeeze the blades to release as opposed to normal tweezers which let go if you don’t keep the finger pressure on.
Only real neg is that, because of the scale, the gun barrels on the small guns are very (very) thin and easy to break off – I’ve done it. Might try to replace with fine brass wire drilled into the gun body – fiddly again but what else can you do?
Buy and be patient!

Another Tamiya model I have purchased and have just commenced building it. As usual Tamiya products are well ahead of their competitors the plastic is of good quality as are the parts on the spru. Have also completed recently the Bismark, KG5, Missouri and if the building and finished product are like the predecessors the model will be a fine one. Why go anywhere else, Tamiya products are excellent.

Wow!
What a refreshing change from the last 2 models I built!
I just started building this model, and so far I am impressed and having a good time working on it.
Tamiya has better instructions, better fitting of parts, and better detail than any of the other 2 brands I have worked with.
And the 1/350 scale is the way to go!!
I will do my level best to get Tamiya models from now on!

As with all the Tamiya model kits I build, this one is no exception. The fit and finish are beautiful and I love building when things go together perfectly the first time. I highly recommend any of the multitude of Tamiya kits available. You won’t be sorry!

Great model. Instructions just fair.
Overall trumpeter just a little better
than tamiya
Built from the box in about 3 weeks you probably won’t find a tamiya 350 scale model this inexpensive

Bought as a present to hubby as he’s been wanting one for ages. The thin parts break easily but can be put together with glue albeit does not always end up straight. Instructions tell you to put poles on front and back of ship early but would suggest to put it on last as it might get caught and will break easily.

Just got back in to model building and first time building a Tamiya brand…all I can say is wow! This company knows how to make a model…fit is good plastic is thick and well detailed and they even Included the Japanese bombers that helped sink this ship…all thumbs up for this model:-)

Tamiya ships in this scale have considerable detail. With some effort, these can easily be museum quality. They do require some skill and a certain amount of patience. Try using the panel stain to make certain details pop. One thing I like about this package is that you get English/German as well as Japanese instructions.

Excellent scale model.
Everything extremely well packaged.
Have found that when painting it is best to spray paint the larger parts as get a much smoother finish.
Overall very pleased and will definitely be purchasing similar items in the future.

Built the Tamyia Bismarck and it was a great success I was very impressed, I have no doubt the PoW will be equally impressive. So far so good, will update with pics later.
