This was a great kit and well detailed exterior. If you’re new to the hobby of model building, this is will be a fun and simple build. The interior is a bit sparse, but if your canopy is closed, you can’t really tell. The decals were a bit thick, and I had a bit of trouble getting them to settle, but overall it turned out ok.

If you are already an experienced builder, this should be a breeze and very enjoyable. I had some minor filling and sanding, but most of the fuselage and wing areas only needed light sanding. For the price and quality, just buy it. You won’t be disappointed.

The only aftermarket part I used was a set of Ultracast exhausts. I’m glad I did, as the kit’s exhausts were not very impressive.

  5. GENE

A superb kit from Tamiya. This appears to be a new tooling. There is much more detail compared with earlier versions of the Mk1. The kit includes finishes to produce one of three different examples of this Battle of Britain era airplane. Also its important to note that both photo-etch components and canopy masking stickers are included in the kit and therefore do not need to be purchased separately. This makes this kit excellent value for money.

  6. nightsky

    fine model kit.

  7. Andy

    Nice little kit to assemble

  8. IAN SAKURA 7

Good stuff: Everything fits, detail is excellent, neither flashing nor manufacturing defects. Kit assembles nicely and HUGE numbers of after-market parts. Bad stuff: The way they handle the open vs. closed cockpit leaves a bit to be desired (Open = fuselage not correct). Tail antenna connection point breaks easily.

  9. Wes Shull

Item came in unsealed box. Not sure if it was new or not. Plastic pieces were cheap and flimsy. Don’t recommend product. Seller shipped quickly. Just poor quality product. Looks like $1 store product

  10. Michael Hanlon

It’s superb quality. If all you’ve ever built are Revell models, you’re in for a pleasant surprise. These kits are so clean, I have yet to find slag on even the smallest parts. I enjoy working with this type of plastic as it’s softer and more pliable than others I’ve worked with. I counted approximately 58 pieces. After building the Mosquito this looks really stripped down but I can’t wait to dig into it. Tamiya kits are a little more spendy but they’re very well worth what you pay. I started building models when I was a kid, I thought it was fun then but with all the choices we have available today through company’s like Tamiya it’s even more fun. I have a lot of time on my hands (being retired) and one day my grandson will inherit a fleet of display quality aircraft, I hope he enjoys them as much as I did building them.

The Instructions were precise and the model went together in a easy build although I took about a week to 10 days to build it, do to a lot of lolly gagging.
