Instructions are useless and balsa falls apart even using brand new exactly knives. Super dissapointed

Poor instructions.

Directions are a little ambiguous, but this is an easy to build, sharp looking model.

Difficult to put together and some pieces don’t fit correctly and had to be cut or cracked. Beautiful plane, though.

You have to cut the pieces out yourself. Not sure how they can say “laser cut balsa wood”

A UGEARS model it is not! I have built a couple of those and the instructions are very clear. But the main thing with UGEARS is they are all press-fit pieces. No gluing, no special tools, no real experience required. Simply be able to follow the instructions. This model is the opposite. The instructions are ok, but you really need to have some balsa building experience. I have built several balsa RC kits and this is similar in technique. For example, attaching the top of the fuselage. It’s rounded and hard to form the wood without breaking it. You wont find any tips in the instructions, but many who have built balsa kits knows that getting the wood wet first makes it easier to form curves. Also, having some CA kicker helps a lot, and you won’t see that in the instructions.
Overall, this is a decent display model, but best suited for someone with balsa building experience. If I had to do it over, I might opt for something like a Guillow’s kit where the instructions and parts fit are better. Just don’t cover it and you basically have the same thing.

The build quality for this model are pretty bad. The worst part was when I needed to bend a very thin piece of balsa wood, which split almost instantly when I lightly flexed it to check the tolerance, it split almost instantly. I’m not sure how it was supposed to be done, but the instructions offer no guidance. It just has one image where everything is already bent and in place.
The other major issue is that the instructions are almost useless. You get one image that sometimes indicates several steps simultaneously, and with the small size of the images and delicate pieces involved, it’s very difficult to figure out what you’re supposed to do. I almost returned this immediately, but foolishly tried to assemble everything anyways. Don’t follow my mistake, get a high quality kit from your local hobby shop.

It is much cheaper than it looks on line.
