Completed my SBD Dauntless for an Instagram group build. It was a fun build to do but at the same time a pain. The flash on the flaps was the worst I’ve ever seen on a model. I spent a lot of time reworking those, I lost the tail hook in my carpet and had to make one out of a paper clip. Over-all not a terrible kit for the price.
Looking forward to finding a place to hang this SBD Dauntless!

Bought this kit because I enjoyed building it about 50 years ago (no kidding). It hasn’t changed. All the working features worked, but if you built this, I’d recommend a touch of petroleum jelly on the landing gear up and down locks; they are pretty stiff. This kit came with a “short shot” (incompletely formed) front canopy. I followed Revell’s customer service instructions, was contacted by someone from Revell Germany, and told a replacement would come but might be delayed by six weeks or so. Six weeks to the day, the replacement clear parts showed up. This isn’t a museum-quality model – but it costs half of what the higher-end kits do, and it went together well. A nice trip down memory lane! I’m sorry the other Monogram “blue box” kits aren’t available any more; it would be fun to build the Wildcat, Hellcat, Helldiver and Avenger again.

Económica maqueta a escala 1/48 de Revell, a partir de otra anterior de la desaparecida Monogram, con pocas piezas y fácil de montar, incluso para principiantes, que dejará insatisfechos a los aficionados más exigentes por escasez de detalles. Ofrece dos acabados con pintura e insignias de la RAF de Nueva Zelanda y de la Navy de Estados Unidos, concretamente de un aparato que participó desde el portaaviones USS Wasp en la batalla de Guadalcanal. El avión es el mejor ejemplo de bombardero en picado para operaciones aeronavales y se mantuvo activo durante toda el conflicto. Detalles apreciados son el movimiento de los flaps, de la hélice y del tren de aterrizaje, pero se echa en falta más detalles en la carlinga, los mandos y el armamento del aparato. Lo mejor tal vez sea su precio, pero es una buena opción para quienes se inician en esta afición, por lo que resulta recomendable.
